Downtown Scottsboro's Market on the Square

Downtown Scottsboro recently hosted its first Market on the courthouse square. Vendors from near and far joined in the the fun for two days to help kick off the inaugural event. The dream is to make the Market a biannual occurrence or, at the very least, an annual affair. Downtown Scottsboro started out small for the first time out, using only two sides of the square, so any technicalities could be dealt with before tackling more vendors and bigger crowds. Eventually, planners hope to have vendors on all four sides of the square. The Market is a completely separate event from First Monday Trade Days, for those of you familiar with that historic Scottsboro tradition. Vendors at The Market ran the gamut from food and woodworking to art and plants. Here are just a few of the scenes from Downtown Scottsboro's Market.

The Market included the always creative art by Paper Moon.

Products, gifts, glassware, clothes and vintage items were available from various vendors.

Just 4U displayed exquisitely crafted jewelry.

There were many beautifully hand crafted wooden items.

Lots of colorful metal yard critters were available and looking for new homes.

Food vendors included McIllwain's Kettle Corn, Dale's Stuft Taters, local honey, caramel apples and delicious baked goodies. Visitors especially look forward to the yummy taters from Dale's food truck and the delicious smells wafting from McIllwain's as they pop up batch after batch of their incredible popcorn.

Here's looking forward to the next Downtown Scottsboro event. Stay tuned!
